Amazon confirms Aus expansion

- Xinhua, CANBERRA

Apr 21, 2017-

American online retail giant Amazon confirmed its Australian expansion on Thursday, with the company announcing it was searching for a suitable site for its first “fulfillment center” - a gigantic warehouse in which its goods are stored. With annual worldwide sales worth more than $100 billion US, Amazon first came to Australian in 2012 when it launched web services, while it opened the online Kindle store in 2013. The expansion however, signifies that Amazon would be bringing its gigantic retail store to Australia. A company spokesperson told News Corp. that Amazon was actively searching for a warehouse site so that it can begin shipping physical books, toys and electronics across Australia. The company said the expansion would bring

“thousands of new jobs to Australia, millions of dollars in additional investment, and to empower small Australian businesses.”
