UN reps call on prime minister

United Nations representatives from various countries on Friday called on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and discussed various issues, including current development situation and undergoing development projects initiated with UN involvement. 

During the meeting, PM Dahal informed the UN representatives about plans to hold local level elections on May 14, it is learnt. 

Noting that the incumbent government is making efforts to implement the constitution, conclude the peace process, boost economy and reconstruction, Prime Minister Dahal underscored the need of UN assistance and cooperation in Nepal’s endeavours, according the Prime Minister’s Secretariat. 

PM Dahal also thanked the delegates for the UN’s assistance in Nepal’s peace process and development projects. 

Stating that the undergoing development projects initiated with the involvement of the UN agencies were making good progress, the delegates of the world body informed PM Dahal that more initiatives would be taken for additional assistance to Nepal. 

Walton Alfonso Webson, executive president of the United Nations Children’s Fund and Lana Nusseibeh, permanent representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations were in the delegation team.
