According to them, the fare hike will raise the price of exportable goods and ultimately affect the competitiveness of Nepali goods in the international market.
The state-owned company raised the management charge of traded goods that pass through the air cargo building.
Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) in its press statement blamed the company for increasing the fare unilaterally.
According to NCC, this will also increase the price of essential goods in the domestic market.
“At a time where the country is facing huge trade deficit, the company’s move will further worsen the country’s competitiveness in exportable goods,” reads the NCC press release.
Likewise, the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) through a press release has also criticitised the price hike.
CNI has criticised the authority’s move by saying it was an unilateral decision.
The private sectors’ umbrella organisation has sought the need to revise the cargo handling fare based on the consensus of all stakeholders.
