Thakur urges govt to clear the decks for polls
Says his party would take part in the polls if the government created an environment for the same by amending the constitution
Apr 25, 2017-
Rastriya Janata Party Chairman Mahantha Thakur has urged the government to create a favourable environment for holding the local level elections by implementing the agreements signed with the Madhes-based parties in the past.
Talking to reporters in Biratnagar on Monday, Thakur said his party would take part in the polls if the government created an environment for the same by amending the constitution. He added that preparations were being made to register the recently unified party with the Election Commission and the district election offices.
The RJP chief said constitution amendment was essential also to address the aspirations of the Hindus who are a majority in the country. Thakur clarified that his party had decided to roll back all the protest programmes after the government expressed its commitment to implementing the past agreements.
