Election candidate injured by bullet shot during police live-fire exercise

A man sustained bullet injury during a live-fire training exercise of Nepal Police at Baseni in Bharatpur Municipality-11 in Chitwan district on Sunday.
The injured man was identified as 52-year-old Krishna Kumal, who is also a CPN (ML) ward level candidate for the upcoming local elections. The bullet had struck Kumal in his abdomen while he was resting under a tree at Nawajagriti Community Forest. He was rushed to the Narayani Community Hospital after the incident. Doctors said the bullet was removed through surgery and that Kumal was out of danger.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipak Shrestha said Kumal was apparently close to the firing range while the junior officers were participating in a firing exercise at the Baseni Firing Range.
