Vote very much on track: PM
May 1, 2017-
The meeting of the Legislature-Parliament has been postponed in order to concentrate on nominations of candidacy for the local elections scheduled for May 2, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said.
“The meeting is postponed to facilitate MPs travel to their respective districts to prepare for the May 14 elections. Deliberations on the constitution amendment proposal will be held only after May 4,” the PM said on Sunday. Talking to reporters after the postponement of the Legislature-Parliament meeting earlier in the day, Dahal stressed that the May 14 elections would not be postponed at any cost. He also expressed confidence that the Madhes-centric parties would take part in the elections.
Likewise in his brief remarks, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba said the May 14 elections are now certain, while senior NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel said the meeting of Parliament had been postponed to forge a consensus on the constitution amendment bill.
