MTPD urges pedestrians to abide by traffic rules

The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) has urged pedestrians to strictly follow traffic rules for their safety.
According to the MTPD, pedestrian accidents account for 40 percent of the total road fatalities in Kathmandu Valley.
The MTPD on its part is planning to enforce traffic rules for pedestrians and jaywalkers and those violating the rules would face fines starting May 15, according to DIG Mingmar Lama, chief of the MTPD.
The MTPD is also planning to carry out programmes to aware the general public about traffic rules.
Meanwhile, with a view to making people aware of traffic rules and
importance of road safety, the MTPD, in association with the National Folk and Duet Song Academy, on Tuesday organised a folk song competition in the Capital.
