The main opposition CPN-UML on Thursday drew the attention of the Election Commission (EC) to the second phase of polls scheduled for June 14, saying that elections “cannot be conducted after the fiscal budget is presented”.
Handing over a memorandum to Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav, UML leader Subas Nembang said that vote counting between polls “is not possible”.
The main opposition also expressed its dissatisfaction at the government decision of finalising the date for second phase of elections without consulting the party.
The UML has also drawn the attention of the EC to Muslim community’s month-long Ramadan festival during which the second phase polls have been scheduled.
