Freezing the fleeting
Basantapur, and thereabouts, for me is a combination of tradition and culture with modern lifestyle, an amalgamation of its majestic buildings and temples woven intricately in tandem with people living and culture evolving around it.Basantapur, and thereabouts, for me is a combination of tradition and culture with modern lifestyle, an amalgamation of its majestic buildings and temples woven intricately in tandem with people living and culture evolving around it.
I have always seen Basantapur as this grand entity where the gigantic Gaddhi Baithak, the mystical Swet Bhairav, the fearsome stance of the Kal Bhairav, harmoniously co-exist with mere mortals who lead very simple lives. In this collection are photographs that attempt to capture the essence of this place and its people that I have grown up picturing.
These photographs are stitched panoramas of multiple shots because in the process of photographing this beautiful place I realised that even the widest of lenses fail to capture this hallowed space as it should be.
