The impeachment motion, however, entered Parliament amid the hullabaloo from the opposition bloc which comprises 11 parties, including the Nepal Loktantrik Forum which is a supporter of the ruling coalition.
The House meeting called for 10am was deferred twice before it was put off until Sunday.
When the House sat at 1pm, Speaker Onasari Gharti allowed Nepali Congress lawmaker Min Bahadur Bishwokarma, the proposer of the impeachment motion, to present the issue before Parliament. Lawmakers opposing the impeachment motion then stood from their seats and picketed the well, calling for withdrawal of the motion. The lawmakers continued to obstruct the meeting despite Speaker Gharti’s call to allow the House function.
