NC, Maoist Centre supporters clash in Rukum

According to police, scores of people were injured at Chinabagar in Sanibheri Village Council-1, when a clash flared up between NC and Maoist Centre supporters. Gorakh Prasad Chand, a Congress candidate for the post of ward chairperson in Sanibheri Village Council, said the clash erupted after Maoist Centre supporters tried to obstruct NC’s election programme.
But Maoist leader Nara Bahadur Pun, who is pitted against Chand, alleged that the clash erupted due to NC supporters.
Inspector Thamman Bahadur Rajali of District Police Office said security personnel had to fire two rounds of bullet in air to take the situation under control. Some people were injured in the incident, he said.
Similarly in Myagdi, one person was injured in a clash between NC and CPN-UML supporters on Monday evening.
Police said Mandan Baniya of Beni Municipality, a ward chairperson candidate from the NC, was injured in the incident. The UML, however, has alleged that NC supporters attacked four of its supporters at Pulchaur area.
In Gumi, an unidentified group set a dozer fire. The dozer was being used to construction Chhaldi Panaha Indregauda road, said police.
