In Syangja, a partly-burnt IED was found outside the house of Lal Gopal Aryal, the Nepali Congress’s mayoral candidate for Galyang Municpality. A Nepal Army solider said the explosive was apparently smothered by rain and hence, did not go off to the plan of whoever had planted it.
An IED was also recovered near the house of a NC candidate for the ward member of Melamchi-9 in Sindhupalchok district on the same day. Police suspect that the members of the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal may have planted the IED to disrupt the elections taking place on Sunday.
