Man, 80, caught for four murders he committed 42 years ago

Baitadi police have arrested an 80-year-old man who had been on the run after murdering four persons 42 years ago.
Parme Bhatta, who was convicted with armed robbery and murder, was arrested from Puchaudi Municipality-2 in Baitadi, police said on Thursday.
He was leading a normal life of an elderly citizen until the law caught up to him for the crime he had committed in his heydays. The Baitadi District Court had sentenced Bhatta to 20 years in jail, convicting him of murdering Arjun Awasthi, Putali Awasthi, Kalash Awasthi and another person, whose identity could not be established. Bhatta had hacked his victims to death with a khukuri in their home in Puchaudi Municipality-10 in course of a robbery. Police said the incident had taken place when the victims tried to stop Bhatta while trying to rob their house in the middle of the night.
