Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that he feels victorious no matter which party wins the local level elections held in three provinces on May 14.
As of 10:30pm Friday, the CPN-UML was leading the local federal unit chief tally with 104 seats while the NC was following with 97 wins. The PM’s CPN (Maoist Centre) has the third position with 45 electoral victories.
Honouring an understanding with the Nepali Congress, Dahal has announced to resign as PM next week. NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba is his likely successor.
“I feel I have accomplished a huge task by conducting the elections successfully amid huge public participation,” Dahal said in Chitwan on Friday while inaugurating the central office of the Agriculture and Forestry University in Rampur. “Whoever wins, the victory is mine,” the PM remarked.
Dahal called on the Madhes-based parties to participate in the second phase of elections scheduled for June 14. There are a lot of challenges in conducting the second-round polls, he said.
