Election preparations begin in eastern region

Political parties have upped their campaigns, while the election offices are preparing for the elections in various districts. The regional election office in Biratnagar has deployed employees at the office of Chief Election Officer since Friday to carry out necessary arrangements.
Prem Prasad Sanjel, chief at the regional election office, said that the election programme has resumed in eastern districts.
The poll programme has been halted since April 25 after the government decided to hold elections in the region in second phase. “Preparations are on to send 64 different types of election materials, including ballot paper, ballot box, to the polling centres,” said Sanjel.
He also assured that voter education campaign would be launched effectively in the region to keep invalid votes at a minimum level. According to him, the voter education programme has been broadcast on local FM stations, televisions and newspapers in five languages.
