EP SAsia delegation calls on CEC, foreign minister

During the meeting, the European parliamentarians held talks about the local polls and preparations for the second round scheduled for June 14

May 23, 2017-A European Parliament (EP) South Asia delegation led by Jean Lambert met Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav and Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat on Monday and discussed a wide range of bilateral issues.

During the meeting with EC chief Yadav, the European parliamentarians held talks about the local level elections and preparations for the second round scheduled for June 14. 

Lambert is the key point person in EU Parliament on South Asian affairs and is also the chair for South Asian Affairs. 

During the meeting with Minister Mahat, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mahat and Lambert discussed Nepal- EU ties, contemporary Nepali politics and local level elections among others. 

Minister Mahat also thanked Lambert for EU’s assistance in Nepal’s social and economic development. He also expressed hope that such assistance will continue in the future. 

The delegation is set to leave for Bhutan on Tuesday after wrapping up its 

Nepal visit.
