Shortly after the meeting convened at 1pm, the opposition lawmakers got up from their seats and began protesting, forcing Speaker Onasari Gharti to halt the business without entering the agenda, including pre-budget discussion for the fiscal year 2017/18.
The Supreme Court on Friday stayed the Cabinet decision to create new local federal units in the Tarai.
The opposition parties have demanded that the government withdraw its decision of creating 22 new local units in 12 Tarai districts. They have also pressed the government to withdraw the impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice Sushila Karki.
