Under overcast conditions at the TU grounds, Sharad Vesawkar-led Central had bundled out Midwest for a paltry 123 in 43.2 overs after electing to field first. After the launch, Central were 23-1 in 4.2 overs and rain intervened to wash out the remainder of the match.
The wash out benefited Midwest who had a relatively weaker squad compared to Central. They were reduced to 23-4 in 12.1 overs before a sensible innings from Rajbir Singh helped Midwest cross triple figures. Singh made 63 off 95 with three fours and a six and the batsman shared 41 runs for the fifth wicket with Pranit Thapa Magar.
Thapa Magar scored 20 from 44 balls with two hits to the fence. Amar Singh Routela (10) was the only other batsman to make runs in double figures. Kishor Mahato took 4-29 from 10 overs for Central, while Hari Shankar Sah had the figures of 2-23 from 10 overs.
Opener Bhupendra Thapa (10) and Sonu Tamang (11) were batting when rain pulled the players out of the field. On Wednesday, Central will take on Western Region, who have already lost their opening match to Nepal Armed Police Force Club by 16 runs on Monday.
