The Supreme Court on Thursday rescheduled hearing on the inspector general (IG) appointment case for June 15.The Supreme Court on Thursday rescheduled hearing on the inspector general (IG) appointment case for June 15.
A full bench led by Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana was formed by Chief Justice Sushila Karki for the hearing in response to a writ filed by Deputy Inspector General Nawaraj Silwal, who has challenged the April 10 government decision of appointing Prakash Aryal as the chief of Nepal Police.
The apex court, however, has not stayed the government decision of appointing Aryal as the police chief, hence he has been discharging his duties regularly.
DIG Silwal had earlier also moved the apex court in February after the Cabinet decided to appoint DIG Jaya Bahadur Chand as the police chief. The apex court, however, had quashed the decision on March 21. In the meantime, DIG Silwal is facing the charge of forging documents that he had submitted.
