Majhigaun integrated settlement inaugurated

The Maajhigaun Integrated Quake-resistant Settlement, in Chautara, indhupalchok, was inaugurated by a host of celebrities on Tuesday. The settlement, which is currently under construction, is a solo endeavour of actress Shweta Khadka. Once completed, the settlement will be home to a total of 63 quake-affected families.
The event saw musical and comedic performances by the visiting artists such as Jitu Nepal, Nikhil Upreti, Pramod Kharel, Yubaraj Chaulagain, Shivahari Bairagi, Basundhara Bhusal and Goyal Kayastha.
Speaking to the Post, actress Khadka said, “I have a very emotional connection with Sindhupalchok. The people of the district don’t identify me as an actress but as a daughter or a daughter-in-law.” Khadka added remembering her late husband, actor Shree Krishna Shrestha, “The construction of Maajhigaun is my dream project, and I hope to see it come to frution.”
The settlement is being constructed by the Shweta-Shree Foundation.
Speaking to the Post, Subas Majhi, a differently-abled collegian said, “Witnessing artists who we grew up seeing on TV or listening to on the radio was incredible. Besides building our houses, they also entertained us. We are hopeful for the future.”
