Two years ago, a quiet village in the hills became the centre of national and international attention.

When a massive earthquake struck with the village as its epicenter, Barpak, a name known only to a few trekkers, was thrown into the media limelight overnight. 

In April 2017, two years after the 2015 Nepal quake, I had the opportunity to visit Barpak.

Despite gaining so much attention from the media, and non-profit organisations across the world in the immediate aftermath of the quakes, this settlement has failed to garner much needed attention from the government. 

However, instead of fussing or complaining about the apathy, the people of Barpak have started rebuilding on their own. 

The photographs in this collection do not talk about the earthquake, the rebuilding, or even Barpak.

These photos only speak of the lovely people of Barpak, and their resilience and aspirations for a better future.
