Mother, daughter NC’s deputy mayor candidates in Jhapa
The Nepali Congress has fielded a mother-daughter duo for the post of deputy mayor in two municipalities of Jhapa district in the upcoming phase of local level elections slated for June 28.The Nepali Congress has fielded a mother-daughter duo for the post of deputy mayor in two municipalities of Jhapa district in the upcoming phase of local level elections slated for June 28.
The party has put forward 71-year-old Tara Devi Bhurtel of Bhadrapur-14 as the
deputy mayor candidate for Bhadrapur Municipality while her eldest daughter Durga Bhurtel has been fielded for the post from Mechinagar Municipality.
Both the candidates are learnt to be close to NC leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula. Bhadrapur is the hometown of Sitaula.
Tara Devi was also recommended as a proportional representation candidate in the Constituent Assembly election.
Durga, who lives in Dhulabari, has been an active member of the NC since the student movement of 1979.
The NC has fielded Ganesh Pokharel for the post of Bhadrapur mayor.
