Kantipur Hissan education fair draws record number of visitors

Most of the 150 stalls were packed as students, mostly those who appeared the Secondary Education Examinations (SEE) this year, stopped by to check out the academic programmes, tuition fees that factor into their search for the ideal educational experience.
Sajana Shah, 17, came all the way from Jhapa with her father looking for a better educational institution.
“My father is a government officer and he brought me along to the fair as he had promised earlier. I’ve had all the necessary information I was looking for my higher studies,” she said.
Many of the colleges held presentations about their academic programmes and other aspects of their schools in an effort arm prospective students with plenty of information to make their decisions. They still have lots to hand out to the prospective students who were seen leaving the fair venue with bags full of printed materials.
Hissan General Secretary Lok Bahadur Bhandari noted the number of visitors on Saturday as ‘unprecedented’. “This event is going from strength to strength by the year. That speaks volume of the fair as well as quality of the participating institutions,” he said.
The four-day event has been jointly organised by Kantipur Media Group and the Higher Secondary School’s Association Nepal with an aim to provide students and guardians information on the types of Nepali colleges and degrees available. The fair concludes on Sunday.
