Tilathi (saptari)
People living in the southeast region of Saptari district were suddenly exposed to flood threats on Saturday after the rain-fed Khado stream breached its banks, sweeping a 50-metre section of the Rajbiraj-Kunauli road stretch in Tilathi.
Vehicular movement along the Belhi customs road has been obstructed as there is no bridge in Tilathi.
There is a danger of inundation in Tilathi and Sakarpur villages, said police, urging caution.
Tilathi is the same area where last year clashes had erupted between Nepali and Indian locals after Indian authorities tried to construct a dam encroaching upon the no-man’s land.
At least 12 people were injured in the clashes, according to police. The dam had caused obstruction of water flow in the stream.
