NC’s KMC defeat due to party disunity: Singh
Party central committee member Nabindra Raj Joshi says time has come for the Congress leadership to review the party’s defeat
Jun 13, 2017-Nepali Congress leader Prakash Man Singh has said the party faced a defeat in the mayoral election in Kathmandu due to non-cooperation from its own leaders and cadres.
Addressing a programme organised to thank voters of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City on Monday, Singh said although there was big public support for the party, itwas unfortunate and regrettable that there was betrayal from within.
“Time has come to look into the causes of the Kathmandu Congress losing the election,” the NC leader said, adding that it was about time all the NC leaders and cadres thought over why the Congress, which had won in eight of the ten constituencies in Kathmandu in the second Constituent Assembly elections, faced a defeat this time around.
He underscored the need for the Congress to accommodate all the parties in the implementation of the constitution adopted in 2015.
Party central committee member Nabindra Raj Joshi said time had come for the leadership to review the party’s defeat. “When the deputy mayor candidate of the party won, why did the mayoral candidate lose with a huge margin? This needs to be thoroughly looked into,” he said.
Mayoral candidate Raju Raj Joshi thanked people who voted for him in the May 14 polls.
