Speaking at a programme organised by the Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) to felicitate newly-elected 11 mayors and deputy mayors of the Kathmandu district and 32 ward chairpersons of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Shakya urged the public not to encourage direct or indirect corruption at municipal and ward offices.
“As well as addition of new infrastructure, we hope the new leadership would give emphasis to economical advancement,” said FNSCI President Shyam Prasad in his welcome remark.
The FNSCI also pledged it support to the local governments in creating skilled manpower to reduce unemployment. “FNCSI, which has its network unions in all 75 districts, now wishes to collaborate and work at the municipal level,” said FNSCI Vice-president Bimal Bahadur Luitel. He suggested the local governments to establish a revenue operation committee for the effective collection, utilisation and transparency of tax and revenue.
KMC Deputy Mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi and Dakshinkali Municipality Mayor Mohan Basnet were the other speakers on the occasion.
