EC assigns election symbols to candidates

- Post Report, Kathmandu

Jun 21, 2017-

The Election Commission on Tuesday distributed election symbols for the second phase of local level elections scheduled for June 28.

The assigning of vote symbols to the parties not represented in Parliament has made it easier for candidates to campaign as independents. The parties represented in Parliament have been campaigning with their designated symbols.

The Bibeksheel Nepali Party, which has fielded its candidate for the mayor’s post in Damak Municipality, has got the image of ‘son and daughter’ as the poll symbol. Subhas Subedi is the mayoral candidate from the party.

The Sajha Party has fielded Tara Kafle, a teacher and philanthropist, for mayor while journalist and rights activist Prakash Chandra Pariyar is running for deputy mayor in Itahari Sub-metropolitan City.

The party got the same symbol that it had received in Kathmandu and Lalitpur—camera—for mayor and selroti for deputy mayor.
