Nepali Ambassador to India Deep Kumar Upadhyay on Wednesday met Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adhityanath and held discussions on a wide range of bilateral issues, including connectivity, culture, border infrastructure, inundation and water management.

“They discussed about establishing direct flights between Kathmandu/Pokhara and Varanasi/Lucknow/Gorakhpur as well as better connecting the main cultural sites on both sides in order to promote tourism,” the Nepali Embassy said in a statement on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Ambassador Upadhyay raised the matter of illegally constructed structures within the Lalita Ghat premises and requested a Uttar Pradesh government’s intervention to remove such structures. Lalita Ghat premises is a Nepali property in Varanasi that include historical monuments built in Nepali style some 200 years ago.

The UP chief minister assured that he would help in resolving the matter. The Lalitaghat and other monuments have remained as a great combination of Nepali art and styles representing Nepali culture.
