Deputy leader of CPN-UML Parliamentary Party Subas Nembang has said that the constitution could be amended only after holding the three tiers of elections.
Talking to journalists at Phidim of Panchthar on Thursday, Nembang said there was no meaning in the government’s action of postponing the local level elections in Province 2 as the Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal did not participate in the June 28 polls even after deciding to hold the vote in a third phase in the eight Tarai districts.
He said the UML would address the grievances of the Madhesi and indigenous communities related to the constitution gradually.
The former Speaker said his party would retain its first position in the second round of local elections as well.
Objecting to the activities of the government that go against the election code of conduct, Nembang demanded a halt to them.
