A meeting of the executive committee of the Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) on June 5 had decided to construct a flyover to ease traffic jam. The metropolis has now officially decided to take a concrete step to that end.
The first step would be the selection of consultancy to conduct a survey to execute the plan into action.
Besides, the LMC has also planned to construct a flyover from Maitighar-Thapathali and Thapathali-Tripureshwor.
LMC Spokesperson Rudra Prasad Gautam said: “We are trying to reach out to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City with our plans and proposals. We will soon form an advisory committee to formally look into the documentation and planning section.”
He added that during the feasibility study, they will be forming construction manuals, tentative budget, policy and construction guidelines. The LMC plans to seek funds and other essential support, either from the government or donor agencies.
The LMC has started discussing the decision and plan with other local bodies like ward offices, metropolitan police, and electricity and telephone companies along with the Department of Roads.
For further projects, the advisory committee of LMC will unveil their five-year action plan as soon as the process of the flyover construction speeds up, according to officials. ‘Construction of flyover was one of the top agenda of the newly-elected Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan. (PR)
