Bibeksheel Party gunning for 2nd round vote
The party is running for mayor and deputy mayor in Baitadi, Kailali and Kanchanpur districts
Jun 25, 2017-Having garnered a sizeable number of votes in the first round of local level elections in Kathmandu, the Bibeksheel Nepali Party is now testing the waters in the Farwest by fielding candidates in the second round in Baitadi, Kailali and Kanchanpur districts.
Bibeksheel’s Ranju Darshana, who ran for mayor in Kathmandu Metropolitan City in the first phase of local polls, garnered 23,439 votes to finish a credible third place in the race. CPN-UML’s Bidya Sundar Shakya was elected to the post with 64,913 votes.The party is running for major positions, including mayor and deputy mayor, in municipalities in those three districts. Arjun Singh Dhami is vying for the mayoral post in Shuklaphanta Municipality, with Dil Bahadur Saud contesting for the ward chair in municipality-11. Dhami is building a career in the modeling sector and Saud is a social worker.
Likewise, Bharat Raj Panta is competing for mayor in Patan Municipality in Baitadi. Tek Raj Kathayat has filed his candidacy for deputy mayor in Lamki Chuha Municipality in Kailali.
The party has put forth the agenda for controlling corruption and maintaining transparency, establishing blood bank, providing rights of land reforms, ensuring equal and easy access to health, controlling drug abuses, expanding electricity and developing capacity building, education and agriculture among others.
