Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhatta said on Sunday that he had directed the District Traffic and Road Project to submit a report in three days after evaluating whether the vehicles could ply the road during night or not.
The local administration is planning to ban the vehicular movement along the road section from 5pm to 5am.
CDO Bhatta said they are looking for an alternative after three security personnel were killed after a landslide swept away a police van at Kalikhola along the road section on Thursday midnight. One police personnel is still missing.
Meanwhile, the vehicular movement in the Narayangadh-Muglin section of the highway has been obstructed after a fresh landslide at Sadhey Dui Kilo on Sunday afternoon.
According to the local administration, the landslide took place at around 3:15pm. The Division Road Office said it will take around 16-17 hours to clear the road section of the landslide debris.
Earlier, it was opened for traffic at 8.05am on Sunday, more than 11 hours after it was blocked by the mudslide debris at different points on that road sections.
Vehicular movement along the road section was halted since 9pm on Saturday as mudslide blocked the road at different points.
Engineer with the Narayangadh-Muglin Road Project, Shiva Khanal said the road had been opened for two-way traffic and the vehicles had started heading towards their destinations. It will take some time for the road traffic to normalise, he added.
The District Police Office, Chitwan said that dozers had been used to clear debris at Char Kilo, Dui Kilo, Khahare and Kalikhola of Icchyakamana Rural Municipality-6.
Earlier, the road was obstructed for 17 hours on Friday after a landslide near Kalikhola.
