Tingla villagers refuse to cast vote

Tingla voters refused to participate in the polls to protest against local restructuring. Nain Bahadur Karki, a local, said Tingla will not vote until villagers demand is addressed.
Tingla people have been saying that the administrative centre of Necha Salyan Village Council is “not located at a convenient distance” and demanding that their village should be made part of Solududhkunda Municipality instead.
“No one came to cast vote. Even political representatives boycotted the elections,” said Bidhyananda Prasad Chaudhary, an election officer at a voting centre in Bhumesthan Secondary School.
Two votes cast at a Nawalparasi polling centre
NAWALPARASI: Only two votes were cast at a voting centre of Sarawal Village Council-6 in Nawalparasi district.
There were 502 registered voters in the ward. Voters of Bhujhawa village boycotted the elections, protesting against the restructuring of local units.
According to Leela Sharma, an election officer at Bhujhawa voting centre, voters of the ward boycotted the elections demanding that the concerned authorities include their village in Ward 7 of Sarawal Village Council.
Two days ago, 441 people had taken voter identity cards.
