Continuous landslides at Daklang and Sirese, along the Bahrabise-Tatopani section of Araniko Highway, since Wednesday evening have disrupted the traffic movement.
“Efforts to clear the obstructions have gone in vain because the landslides have not stopped,” Police Inspector Panchaman Bakhu at Bahrabise Area Police Office said on Thursday.
The disruption of transport service has inconvenienced the travellers. People with health conditions have been hit hard.
Asthma patient Bir Bahadur Tamang was forced to walk to the Bahrabise Primary Health Centre from his home at Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality on Thursday because of the road block. He complained of frequent landslides in the area during rainy season.
“The road is obstructed by landslides every monsoon. When can we travel safely and without having to worry about landslides?” he said.
Inspector Bakhu said landslides along the Bahrabise-Tatopani road have become more frequent after the 2015 Gorkha earthquake.
“Since the 2015 earthquake, we have witnessed more landslides along the road, particularly at Sirese, Daklang and Jure areas,” he said.
Meanwhile, rains and landslides have also damaged the rural roads at places like Helambu, Marming, Listikot, Phulpingkati, Piskar, Chokati, Ghorthali, Karthali and Ramche.
