The embassy has also called on the Election Commission to ensure unhindered access for the international community to observe the elections. “We encourage unfettered international election observation to be authorised for the final phase of the polls, to enable the international community, including accredited diplomats, to observe,” the embassy said in a statement on Friday.
Reiterating its commitment to working with all stakeholders for an inclusive, peaceful election process, the mission added: “We strongly urge any protests to be undertaken peacefully and that the security forces act with restraint.” (PR)
