The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) says it has addressed 31,979 pending grievances that were registered at the centre regarding post-quake reconstruction.

The complaints were filed by quake victims of 14 districts worst hit by the April 25 earthquake. The NRA has decided to include 3,898 households in the housing aid beneficiary list. A field survey of 15,453 households will be conducted, it said. The NRA has also decided to carry out another survey for 12,628 households which were missed out earlier and hire 300 engineers for the purpose.

“The NRA had received a total of 207,861 complaints. Of them, 35,229 households were found eligible for receiving housing aid,” said an NRA statement issued by its spokesperson Yam Lal Bhusal. “First phase of survey of 75,910 households is underway while remaining 45,809 households which were earlier missed out will undergo another survey.”

The NRA had recently decided to address the complaints regarding private housing reconstruction at the local level. The local authorities have been asked to address all the complaints by August-end.

Those on the housing beneficiary list receive Rs 300,000 in three instalments to build their houses.

According to the NRA, construction of 34,850 houses has been completed and 106,206 beneficiaries are rebuilding their houses.
