Joshi, known as a Gandhian socialist leader of Nepali politics, passed away at the age of 91. NC leaders Bimalendra Nidhi, Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Ram Sharan Mahat were among others who also reached the party headquarters to pay their respect.
According to the party, Joshi, a patient of asthma and pneumonia, was hospitalised after he got hurt in a bathroom accident at his residence on July 5. His last rights were performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat on Friday evening. The party has decided to fly its flag at half-staff for three days to mourn the demise of the senior leader.
An emergency meeting of the NC central committee held in Sanepa on Friday expressed its grief at the leader’s passing away.
The NC party offices will be shut across the country on Sunday in honour of the departed soul.
