Ex-king undergoes angioplasty at Norvic
Jul 20, 2017-
Former monarch Gyanendra Shah underwent an angioplasty procedure at Norvic Hospital on Wednesday to reopen his blocked blood vessels. Shah was rushed to the hospital after he complained of chest pain.
“We have successfully implanted a coronary stent in his artery to keep them open and for smooth supply of blood,” said Dr Yadav Bhatta, leader of a medical team that performed the procedure on Shah, afterwards. His condition is stable and will remain in the hospital for a few days, according to a hospital source.
Dr Bhatta said they had recommended angiogram to Shah after suspicion of a block in a heart valve during a regular health check-ups in the past.
Shah has been living in a forest retreat in Nagarjun, on the outskirts of Kathmandu, after the abolition of monarchy in 2008. (PR)
