Rs 23.73 million Indian support for postal roads

Indian Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri handed over the cheque to Devendra Karki, secretary at the Ministry for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, in Singha Durbar Kathmandu.
The amount has been released towards 25 percent of tendered cost (including 10 percent mobilisation advance) of the two contracted road stretches namely Maisthan-Gaushalabazaar-Samsi Road and Birendrabazaar-Yadukuha-Mahinathpur Road being implemented under the Postal Highway Project in Nepal with government of India’s grant assistance worth Rs 8,000 million, according to a statement issued by the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.
Earlier in January, Rs 24.97 million was released for the project towards 25 percent of tendered cost of four contracted road stretches namely Birendrabazaar-Mahinathpur, Janakpur-Yadukuwa, Manmat-Kalaiya-Matiarwa (0-15 km) and Manmat-Kalaiya-Matiarwa (15-26.66km).
So far, construction of two roads of the Postal Highway namely Dhangadhi-Bhajaniya-Satti and Lamki-Tikapur-Khakraula have been completed with Indian government’s grant assistance worth Rs 1,020 million, which were inaugurated in January.
Since 1950, the government of India has been supporting infrastructure development in Nepal and has provided financial assistance for construction of various highways, roads, bridges, airports, among others as part of its multi-sectoral and multi-dimensional India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme.
