- Post Report, KAPILVASTU

Jul 24, 2017-

Archaeologists have expressed concern over the condition of the ancient Ashoka Pillar which remains submerged in floodwaters for a month. The stone structure in Gothihawa, Kapilvastu, which was built by Ashoka, the ruler of ancient Maurya empire in 259 BCE, could be damaged unless immediate steps are taken to drain the water, said  Krishna Bahadur KC, an archaeologist at the Lumbini Development Trust.
