RPP settles for supporting govt without Cabinet share
Even if the party with 37 lawmakers pulls the plug, the government will continue to have a majority in Parliament
Jul 29, 2017-Two days after dissolving a committee formed to negotiate with the government, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has formally said that the prospects of the fourth largest force joining the Deuba Cabinet have ended.
The office bearer meeting of the party also concluded that the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government had deceived it by excluding the RPP, a party that voted for Deuba’s election, in major decisions of the government.
Though some office bearers had suggested withdrawing support to the government, the RPP took no decision to this effect. Even if the party with 37 lawmakers pulls the plug, the government will continue to have a majority in Parliament.
They party also decided to raise the agenda of a Hindu nation. It will be holding assemblies in all the rural municipalities, municipalities and provinces by mid-September to revive its agenda of Hindu nation.
The party will hold its conventions in the six provinces where the local level elections have been held.
The Province 1 meet would be held in Jhapa, Province 3 in Hetauda, Province 4 in Pokhara, Province 5 in Nepalgunj and Province 6 in Surkhet while Kanchanpur would be the venue for Province 7 gathering.
The convention in Province 2 would be organised after the local elections are held. The local level elections in Province 2 are scheduled to be held on September 18.
