Clean-up drive continues in Valley

Eight metric ton of garbage was extracted from the Teku confluence of the Bagmati river, as the Bagmati Mega Clean-up campaign entered its 220th week.
More than 500 people from different walks of life participated in the clean-up campaign.
Manisha Koirala, the goodwill ambassador for the Bagmati Mega Clean-up Campaign, former secretaries Kishore Thapa and Krishna Chandra Poudel and Jyoti Kumar Shrestha, project manager at the High Powered Committee for Integrated Development of Bagmati Civilisation also actively took part in the clean-up drive.
Meanwhile, 11 metric ton of solid waste was collected and managed from the Gongabu area marking 16 weeks of the Ring Road clean-up campaign, an extension of the Bagmati Mega Clean-up Campaign, launched on April 15.
Similarly, two metric ton of solid waste was extracted from the Guheshwori area. Over 100 people participated in the campaign.
Likewise, the Rudramati clean-up drive entered its 179th week on Saturday
and campaigners managed around one metric ton of solid waste from a door-to-door campaign.
Marking the 151st week of the Bishnumati Clean-up Campaign on Saturday, over 200 volunteers managed five metric ton of solid waste.
The Tilganga women’s’ group and Sakaratmak Maitri Shakti Awaj each managed one metric ton of solid waste in Tilganga and Minbhawan areas, respectively. The clean-up campaign in the Valley has been sustainable, so far.
