The team, headed by Public Health Officer of Epidemiology and Disease Control Division’s Resham Lamichhane, visited the Waling Primary Health Centre and collected blood and sputum samples of 20 patients to be sent to a laboratory in Kathmandu for screening. People have been terrorised following the news that a man died of swine flue in Waling. Dilip Pratap Khad, coordinator at the Waling Primary Heath Centre, confirmed that 49-year-old Khum Praksah Aryal of Waling Municipality-14 died of swine flue in the Capital.
However, the visiting team said there was nothing to panic about. “There’s no such danger of spreading disease. The condition is somehow normal here,” said Lamichhane.
Cough, fever, headache, sore throat, muscle pain, vomiting or diarrhoea are common symptoms of swine flu. If a person develops one of these symptoms, he/she should immediately consult a doctor, he advised.
The team also discussed with locals and raise awareness about the spread and control of the disease.
