Jayaram Yadav, a central member of the Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum-Nepal, maintained that population should be the major basis for determining the election constituency in Madhes. He suggested the commission form seven constituencies in Morang, ensuring the representation of ethnic communities.
District chairman of the CPN-UML Binod Dhakal insisted that the election constituencies should not separate the wards of the local units to preserve the district’s ethnic diversity.
The leader of CPN (Maoist Centre) also asked the commission to form election constituencies in the Tarai based on the population ratio.
Meanwhile, Ganeshraj Karki, a member of the commission, said they are serious in determining the constituencies as it could not be changed for 20 years. “We are going to determine the constituencies without disputes,” he said.
