The date was finalised on Tuesday during an all-party meeting held at the office of the chief election officer of Chitwan.
“The date for re-election in Bharatpur-19 has been fixed for August 4 after consultation with political parties,” said Kabi Prasad Neupane, chief election officer.
Assistant Election Officer Gambhir Ghimire said silence period will start from 7am on Wednesday.
Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhatta said security has been upped in the district in view of the vote.
The Election Commission (EC) on Monday instructed Chitwan chief election officer to conduct re-election at the earliest possible date in line with the order of the Supreme Court, which on Sunday upheld the EC’s June 3 decision of holding re-polling in Ward 19 of Bharatpur.

CPN-UML’s Devi Gyawali was leading Maoist Centre’s Renu Dahal, the daughter of then prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also the chairman of the Maoist Centre, at that time.
Meanwhile, the authorities destroyed all the cancelled ballot papers on Tuesday after the date for re-election in Bharatpur-19 was announced.
