Nepal, Morocco sign MoU on cooperation

The MoU was signed by Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi and Mohamed Maliki, Ambassador of Morocco to Nepal on behalf of the respective governments at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The MoU establishes a consultation mechanism at the level of Foreign Secretary or Director General to be convened annually in Nepal and Morocco alternatively to facilitate exchange of visits as well as to conduct consultations between the two countries in all areas of mutual interest, according to the Ministry of Foreing Affairs.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Krishna Bahadur Mahara witnessed the ceremony.
Foreign Secretary Bairagi highlighted the importance of the consultation mechanism in exploring the ways and means for further expanding and consolidating the bilateral relations and cooperation. He added that the consultations between the two countries on matters of mutual interest would help enhance bilateral engagement in various fields.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Maliki expressed satisfaction over the state of bilateral relations ever since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1975. He expressed hope that the MoU would be useful in enhancing future cooperation between the two countries.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Morocco based in New Delhi and Morocco’s Honorary Consul General Bashanta Kumar Chaudhary were also present on the occasion.
