Unveiling a work plan of the ministry on Friday, the minister warned of legal action against criminals, outlining a special campaign targeted at armed groups.
Sharma said the government had decided to break the criminal ring in the Capital. He added that police would be provided with equipment and technology for the same.
“Kathmandu Valley will be made safe,” he said. “No criminal will be left off the hook. We’ll crack down on gangsters and maintain law and order.”
Sharma announced that Kathmandu and Pokhara would open 24 hours with an aim to give tourism a boost in the cities. “Now on there will be no obstruction in running night businesses in the cities. Markets will remain open round the clock,” he said.
On the creation of the posts of additional inspector generals, the home minister said the move was aimed at giving Nepal Police a federal shape.
