Raju BK and Bishnu Pandey, who were arrested by a Metropolitan Police Crime Division team from their respective houses in Udayapur and Ramechap, were made public in the Capital on Saturday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dinesh Amatya, Raju is a close friend of Bijaya, father of Chaudhary. SSP Amatya said Raju had abducted the child from Saraswati Boarding School, Chhetrapati and kept him hostage in a house in Kandaghari, Bhaktapur.
The house belongs to Bishnu’s sister. The abductors had hired a motorcycle only three days before abducting the child, SSP Amatya said, adding. “The abductors picked up the child from his school. Bishnu’s sister was told that the child’s father is ill and he will have to stay there for a few days.”
Interestingly, Raju had feigned his concern on the family devastated by the abduction of their child.
He immediately went to see Bijaya fell unconscious upon hearing the news that his son had been abducted. It was Raju who had taken Bijaya to a hospital and had gone to the school to protest their carelessness. A day after the abduction, Raju had called Bijaya demanding Rs5 million as ransom. On the third day, the family lodged a complaint at the MPCD where Raju had accompanied Bijaya.
On the wee hours of August 3, police rescued the child from Kandaghari.
SSP Amatya said Raju and Bishnu had fled Kathmandu to their respective home towns after police began extensive investigation.
During the press conference, Bijaya said he had never imagined his best friend would premeditate and execute the abduction. “I am devastated that my friend could do such a heinous deed,” said Bijaya.
