According to the document released on Monday, Nepal’s international stature should be level up and effective economic diplomacy for prosperous Nepal. The ministry has also fixed a slogan “Inimitable, Independent and Sovereign Foreign Policy: Diplomacy for International Respect and National Prosperity.”
Speaking at a press briefing, DPM Mahara said that the foreign policy task force will prepare a report will be implemented, giving preference to the neighbours and will conduct good diplomacy to all friendly nations. “The achievements made by Nepal in the last decade will be used to formulate country specific foreign policy with all powers, including India and China and take forward a partnership for trilateral cooperation,” the work plan states.
All pacts and understanding reached with the neighbouring countries will be taken forward for their implementation, giving priority to connectivity, especially to the execution of OBOR, the paper said.
The work plan features a host of other matters related to ministry, like passport, consular service, effective economic diplomacy, issuance of separate Foreign Service act. It also mentions about strengthening of the institutions, including ministry, missions, for effective rescue of stranded Nepalis, and setting up new diplomatic ties.
Other plans include holding regular meetings of bilateral mechanisms, training for ambassadors, preparing a database of Nepali nationals living and working abroad, among others.
