Nepal is among the top ten countries in the world with the highest rate of child marriage, where one-third of the girls are married before the age of eighteen, according to a 2016 Unicef report.

In a bid to combat the prevalent of child marriage in the country, a five-year campaign, “It Takes Nepal To End Child Marriage,” was launched by World Vision International Nepal and the Association of Community Radio Broad-casters Nepal on Thursday.

According to the promoters, the campaign will assist government’s initiative in meeting the National Strategy to End Child Marriage by 2030, one of Nepal’s targets under the global Sustainable Deve-lopment Goals, by raising awareness at different

levels.

The campaign was inaugurated by President Bidya Devi Bhandari, who said attitudinal change was required to fight child marriage.
